Winter Weekends Workshop: Make-A-পুতলি Workshop

Chef's Table Courtside 12 Dec, 2025 11:00 AM

This session will offer participants a warm and accessible introduction to traditional doll making in Bangladesh. It will begin with simple stories about where the craft originated, why families preserved it over generations, and how these small handmade dolls once reflected everyday life and local culture. The aim will be to help participants see the craft in a more personal and meaningful light.

The session will then move into a hands-on learning experience. Step by step, participants will select materials, shape the doll, add features, and bring the final piece together. The instructions will remain clear and easy to follow, with a relaxed pace so participants can focus on the experience rather than the result. Through this guided process, they will come to understand the patience, care, and skill that traditional artisans put into each doll.

By the end of the workshop, participants will take home a handmade doll created entirely by them. More importantly, they will leave with a deeper appreciation for this tradition and a clearer sense of how it can be preserved and reimagined for the future. The session will become a simple yet meaningful creative experience that connects participants to a valuable part of cultural heritage while giving them something personal and lasting to keep.
